2020 Summer Program
July 20 - August 7
Our innovative summer will consist of three full-week sessions starting July 20th. While not the full Acton experience, we will expose your child to some Acton systems and processes that have roots in the Montessori system. Students will also spend some time during the day doing CORE work (math, reading, typing, spelling, etc.). They will learn to do for themselves and find joy in learning.
Parents will love the lasting impact of our innovative program. Join us this summer and be prepared to see something extraordinary! The summer program is open to K-8.
The cost of each weekly session is $650 for 1 week, $1250 for 2 weeks, and $1800 for 3 weeks.
Space is limited, please SIGN UP using this FORM or by emailing info@actoneastbay.org to get the form emailed to you.
Week One: Future STEM Leaders/Inventors Quest
(July 20 - July 24)
We will utilize STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to find your child’s inner inventor. We will look for inspiration from great inventors and create some exciting inventions. Racing from inventing new board games to tinkering with LEGOs, eagles will get some hands-on fun each day.
Week Two: Creative Writing Quest
(July 27- July 31)
This week of Creative Language and Literature, we will dive into literary techniques to create engaging and exciting pieces of writing. While incorporating the novel "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio, we will use the theme for fun activities and to better understand ourselves and put this into writing.
For K-2, we have the adapted version of this novel “We’re All Wonders” focusing on the same themes such as the importance of kindness, tolerance and acceptance. Students will enjoy creating a digital, one-of-a-kind book, that they get to share at the end of this camp. This book will be full of their writings, audio recordings and illustrations.
Week Three: Adventures of Art Quest
(August 3 - August 7)
Adventures of Art Quest will introduce Eagles to various famous Artists, both classic and modern. Some art styles that will be introduced this week are manga, realism, abstract, and character design. While using inspiration from these artists, Eagles will be introduced to a whole new set of skills they can use to continue to create art, both in our studio and at home. By the end of the week, each student will have a beautiful portfolio to bring home.
