Summer@Acton 2023

We are excited to announce that Acton Academy East Bay is offering 3 weeks of camps for Summer 2023.

Students new to Acton will have the opportunity to be introduced to our programs, systems, and philosophy while also continuing their academic learning by working in CORE skills such as math, reading, typing, grammar, and spelling. They will have the chance to build their confidence, independence, creativity, and responsibility. Existing Acton students will have the opportunity to get ahead in their CORE work, prepare for the next school year, and learn new skills while having fun!

In the afternoon, all learners will explore several hands-on camp adventures specific to the theme for that week’s camp. Your learner will gain experience learning, engaging, and diving deep into different STEAM topics. We usually try to cap off the week with a fun day at The Wave!

Week One: July 17 - July 21

Culinary Academy (Grades K-4)

Budding foodies will enjoy five days of hands-on experience! They will be cooking up different types of foods each day and will hone their knife skills and kitchen chops. A week of experimenting with preparing different dishes to the final day when they create a menu for the opening of their “own restaurants”, this camp is filled with yummy treats. Come with an appetite, you will surely enjoy each bite. Our menus will abide by our camper’s dietary restrictions.

The Summer of Art (Grades 5-8)

The Summer of Art camp will bring excitement to art. Learners will dive into the different aspects of art, tackling artistic projects utilizing many different mediums. Each day will focus on a different theme in art giving learners the chance to experiment in the artistic process, show off their creativity, and bring home an artist portfolio showcasing their best work. Along with getting hands-on artistic practice, campers will learn how to look at, talk about, and analyze different pieces of art, getting a well rounded artist's experience.

Week 2: July 24 - 28

Icky Sticky Camp (Grades K-4)

Icky and Sticky Science Camp will cover all things gooey and slimy! This week, young scientists will learn, explore, and discover through hands-on experiments. From creating chemical reactions to learning about the physics behind oobleck, they will enjoy informative and messy science. These different experiments will guide your young scientists to spark a curiosity in science and will excite them each day to come back.

Coding & Robotics (Grades 5-8)

The Coding and Robotics Camp gives learners an opportunity to develop a new skill, practice with skills they have, and dive deeper into the digital world of coding. From creating coded animations on scratch, to navigating drones, and even exploring the Forbidden Temple in Minecraft Education, learners will get hands-on with new tech based skills. Throughout the camp, they also get the chance to take their coding skills to a new level and away from the computer with hands-on projects.

Week 3: July 31 - August 4

Craft and Create (Grades K-4)

This is a camp for the creative and the craft lover. Ample opportunities for campers to nurture their creative minds with these exciting ideas while having fun in the process, from recycled projects to nature crafts and beyond. Come and express yourself with different mediums and discover new crafting techniques. At the end of the week, we will have an art gallery for the campers for them to showcase their work. We hope to see you there!
